When I first popped KMFDM's newest album Attak into my stereo, I didn't know what to expect. I had heard them once before, but all I could recall was that I liked their sound. I can tell you now that I really underestimated their talent."Attak/Reload" begins the album with a rock-inspired track that features prominent guitars from Tim Skold. From here, the album is a musical frenzy of different styles of the metal genre that range from heavy industrial songs with steel drums, like "Dirty" and "Urban Monkey Warfare," and upbeat songs with spirited vocals, such as "Superhero" and "Risen," and the more sinister yet mellow bass-filled tunes like "Yohoho" and "Sleep." The cleverly written lyrics, being the most essential element of the whole album, effectively express the emotion of each song. Every song tells a tale and has its own signifigance in the overall story of war and oppression being portrayed. However, the greatest accomplishment of this album is the album as a whole. It expresses a positive outcome of turmoil and depravity, and posesses great replay quality. Overall, I'd have to recommend this CD to fans of loud rock music and old-school Nine Inch Nails fans. It rocks that's all there is to say, really.
